 Why QwikZite?
Quite a lot of similar packages are available on the market. But they all differ in one or the other way. As a 'newcomer' we therefore like to explain what we had in mind in developing the QwikZite package and how we hope that it meets the needs of our customers.
In QwikZite, easy self-management of the offered internet facilities by our customers is prioritized, with the following objectives:
- quick anticipation on eventualities when addressing a broad public;
- involvement of more people in this external work;
- extension of internal communication facilities;
- economical utilization of financial resources instead of running into a lot of money for hiring programmers and designers.
Is the internet no longer a complex affair? Of course it is, but for the users of QwikZite we have tried to eliminate as many tresholds as possible. And we have created extensive support sites, where you may find answers to most of your questions: for the website module on http://www.qwikzite.net/english and for the email manager and other modules on http://help.suares.nl/english.
With a QwikZite subscription the customer is automatically assured of all improvements and expansions of the package. No bother about extra payments for new services. As the internet is far from being a static business, QwikZite is a dynamic package which is continually adapted to the exigencies of new internet standards and the needs of our target customers.
Presently we are working on the following expansions:
- Expansion of the package with a forum module.
- Expansion of the website module with a photo gallery.
The website module "QwikZite", where the QwikZite package takes its name from, is a so-called Content Management System (CMS). The "content" of the website can be edited without having to bother about the design, by several persons simultaneously.
QwikZite is no traditional CMS as it is used in large organisations, where the phrase "management" especially refers to a built-in authorisation system to regulate what persons are allowed to change certain parts of the site, who is responsible for the final authorisation and implementation of these changes, etc. In general, such a system is not relevant and even unhandy for smaller organisations.
On the other hand, however, QwikZite differs from most other CMS systems because of the large freedom in site design. You aren't bound to a limited range of templates. With the programme you can - irrespective of the content - create a site style of your own wish, work with multiple styles within one site and in the turn of a hand choose for another style. In fact, QwikZite should be called a Content & Design Editing/Publishing Sytem.
Nearly all programmes included in the QwikZite package are so-called Open Source software.
The website module - developed by Ace Suares and Jan Veuger - has become available as Open Source software in 2003, in the hope that more programmers will help in improving and further developing this module. The webmail module is a product already existing a bit longer, and has been developed in a few years by co-operation of a large number of programmers from around the world.
The great benefit of Open Source software are the continued efforts to improve these products.
In principle, most Open Source software - including our website module - is available for free. But an average 'small organisation' cannot afford to employ special personnel for:
- setting up the server necessary for running internet software;
- taking care of continuous security of the server against all dangers lying in wait at the internet (even for large companies this is a hard job).
That's why we take care of this for you.
By bringing together all modules in a so-called metadatabase at our servers, we are able to provide the full package as 'standard' package at low costs. With an annual subscription, the monthly costs are only EUR 18.
For campaigns and other activities deserving special attention, a 'light' version of the package is available. With an annual subscription, the monthly costs are only EUR 9.
This 'QwikZite Light Pakket' is as well suitable for one-man businesses.
Finally, there is the possibility for quarterly subscriptions, enabling you to use QwikZite also for activities of a more temporary character. |
